Good Bones
Curated by Xandra Beverlin
Deriving its name from a poem by Maggie Smith, this exhibition celebrates both the brutality and the resilience of human nature. The works in this show act as excavations, uncovering the fleeting moments of inexplicable beauty we find in the rubble of everyday existence. Opening on the evening of the summer solstice as the sun stands still, this body of work illuminates our tendency to find solace in the sublime.
After all, we yearn. We find romance in the flailing structures of a dilapidated house, silver linings in a series of unfortunate events, potential for redemption in someone who has wronged us. Sometimes it is only by acknowledging this effort in others that we can truly begin to see it within ourselves.
